Job Overview: As a full-time Facilities and Maintenance Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in the upkeep and smooth operation of our main campus and nearby properties. From routine maintenance to setting up for big events, your work will ensure that our facilities are welcoming and well-maintained, supporting a variety of church activities and community functions.
Key Responsibilities:

Routine Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of church facilities, identifying and addressing issues such as plumbing leaks, electrical faults, and structural repairs.
- Execute minor carpentry work, including repairing or replacing fixtures, fittings, and furniture to ensure safety and aesthetics of church properties.
- Conduct painting, varnishing, and staining tasks to maintain and improve the interior and exterior appearance of church buildings.

Technical and Mechanical Upkeep:
- Regularly check and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
- Oversee the maintenance of garden and landscape equipment, church vehicles, and other mechanical tools, performing minor repairs and routine servicing as needed.
- Manage the upkeep of electrical systems including changing light bulbs, fixing loose wiring, and ensuring all electrical installations comply with safety standards.

Event Setup and Takedown:
- Coordinate the setup of furniture and equipment for church events, ensuring all items are placed according to event plans and specifications.
- Responsible for the efficient breakdown and storage of equipment and furniture post-event, ensuring that all items are accounted for and stored properly.
- Provide logistical support during events, assisting with on-the-spot adjustments and troubleshooting to ensure smooth operations.

Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all safety guidelines and building codes during maintenance activities.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as quickly as possible to mitigate risks and prevent disruptions to church services and activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times, promptly addressing any potential hazards.

Customer Service and Interaction:
- Act as a point of contact for staff and visitors regarding facilities-related inquiries, providing prompt and courteous service.
- Communicate effectively with church staff and volunteers to coordinate maintenance activities without disrupting church functions.
- Gather feedback from event organizers and attendees to continually improve the setup and functionality of event spaces.

Administrative Duties:
- Keep detailed records of maintenance work, including repairs made, parts used, and time taken, to assist in future maintenance planning and budgeting.
- Order supplies and equipment as needed, ensuring that expenditures stay within the allocated budget.
- Schedule and oversee the work of external contractors when specialized repairs or installations are required.

What We’re Looking For:
- Someone with a high school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of relevant experience in facilities and/or maintenance roles.
- A proactive problem-solver with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- A flexible team player who can manage various tasks efficiently and is available to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays as needed.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to handle physical requirements of the job, including lifting up to 100 pounds and navigating different work environments.
